At the end of 2009, Twitter now has over 75 million user accounts registered. Wikipedia describes Twitter as a free social networking and microblogging service that enables it users to send and read messages known as tweets. It was first launched on March 21, 2006 at 9:50 PM Pacific Standard Time (PST): “just setting up my twttr”.

Yes, you saw that right; it’s Twttr. That was the original product name or codename for the service. The codename was inspired by Flickr and the fact that American SMS short codes are five characters long.

From that codename, the team published a quirky yet complete video to promote their service. The video depicts Biz Stone sporting a crazy scientist look, speaking really fast but at the same time informing us a little about the service in 43 seconds.
